Our music and singing lessons

As Hertfordshire’s only performing arts school with a standalone music department, we’re very proud to have a number of highly qualified & talented music teachers who are all ready to help your child on their music or singing journey.

Whether they want to develop their singing abilities, or learn how to play a musical instrument (or improve their existing skills), we’ve a music or singing lesson that’s just right for them.

One-to-one lessons in singing and music

Here at The Dan Tien, all our singing and music lessons are offered on a 1-to-1 basis at our studio in North Watford.

Alongside singing lessons, we teach a range of musical instruments including piano, guitar, ukulele, bass, drum kit, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet & trombone.

All our teachers are highly-experienced in preparing children for exams with ABRSM, Trinity College London, and Rock School; and we also provide tutoring for the South West Herts 11+ Musical Aptitude Test and Auditions.

1-1 music lessons cost £24 for 30 minutes or £36 for 45 minutes.

Benefits of learning to play an instrument

Not only does learning to play a musical instrument

  • boost your child’s confidence levels
  • improve their concentration, and
  • help them relax

but because it stimulates the brain, it can also help with maths and reading skills, too.

Benefits of singing

Singing releases lots of happy hormones, which makes us instantly feel good, whatever our mood – so it’s great for your child’s mental health.

It also helps with brain development, which in turn has an impact on their ability to learn.

And as they learn new songs, they expand their vocabulary and start to learn about rhythm and rhyme – all of which help with your child’s reading skills as they grow.
