Our dance classes for children & teens

It’s a fact – we feel better when we move our bodies. And what better way to move than to music?

Here at The Dan Tien in Watford, we’ve a massive choice of dance classes to suit all musical tastes, dance styles, and abilities – from beginner, to advanced.

Children in reception, year 1, or year 2:

Ballet, tap, musical theatre, street dance and acrobatics

Year 3 to Year 6:

Ballet, tap, musical theatre, street dance, lyrical, acrobatics and acting

Year 7 upwards & teens:

Ballet, tap, musical theatre, street dance, contemporary, jazz, acrobatics, pointe prep and acting

And younger children aged 3 – 4 can start their dance journey with our pre-school classes in ballet or street dance.

Your child will enjoy progressing through the different levels, gaining more confidence in their abilities as they develop their dance skills.

As well as the opportunity to take part in regular performances, they’ll also be able to work towards nationally-recognised dance exams from the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), which is one of the leading dance examination boards in the UK and worldwide.

Benefits of learning to dance

Dance has lots of benefits, whatever your age.

But for our children & young people, as well as being a fantastic way of keeping them fit & healthy, dance classes are another way of helping children to connect with others, engaging with real people face-to-face to build those all-important social skills.

Alongside increased flexibility and co-ordination, dance can help your child in other ways, too – such as:

  • boosting their self-confidence
  • improving their physical confidence, and
  • generally giving them a greater sense of wellbeing.

Plus it’s a great release of energy & emotion, and a real mood-booster.

Classes for everyone

From the graceful & elegant, to the energetic & funky, there really is something for everyone.
